Kwakwee is an internationally recognized Multi-Media Designer. Working in the realms of contemporary North West Coast Native Art - painting, graphic design, workshop instruction and traditional performance.
He hails from the Squamish, Musgamagw Dzawada'Nuik, Namgis, Tlingit/Haida, Kwaguilth Nations, and Celtic people through blood and cultural rites of passage. He feels fortunate to have been brought up with the Potlatch Traditions and Ceremonies, with mentoring and apprenticeship he received from his extended families. This gave him an early understanding of the complexities of Traditional First Nation art forms, history, meaning and protocol of his rights and use of family crests. He accredits his father Gigaemi Kukwits, mother Thaïs Sewell and family friend Tom Doucette for his creative contemporary foundation.

With a unique eye for picture and design, interdimensional spiritual influence, Kwakwee produces visionary dream-like impressions in his paintings: moving well beyond the formline of Northwest Coast design elements, and describes a complex physical and metaphysical universe, into the nature of space and time, and metaphysical outlooks. Continually inspired to push the boundaries, he is consistently creating new and innovative platforms of the old traditional form-lines. Challenging what we know as contemporary North West Coast Native Art.
